Day 14: North to Bolivia
Our day began with an early 5:40am flight from Chile to Bolivia. The flight was stunning, taking us over the Atacama desert, the driest place on Earth and site of many gaping open pit mines up onto the high steppe of Bolivia to the tropical Andean peaks looming over neighboring cities of El Alto and La Paz. Here are a few photos I took on the flight in.
Scenes from the Greater Community. When I see a landscape or cityscape I often remind myself that I am observing a greater community scene – that we are not apart from this; but wholly included in it. I find this helps me to see what is really there, with “beginner eyes”.
Thank you, Reed, for your photos and write ups about this historic journey – both are excellent and moving.
Aaron, I see a place where there’s not a lot of things growing, where are their food supply coming from? and how isolated is this town/city? How many will be casualties of the Great waves?
Beautifully captured Reed, thank you for sharing a visual perspective of your journey.
Great pictures Reed! Thank you for sharing them with us. One can see such a different way of life through these pictures.
